Found Friday on Reading the Bible

Thanks to the astounding finding skills of DF, Found Friday brings you the following embodied reading mnemonic tool for approaching the bible. Numbered fingers correspond with "hear, read, study, etc." If we all had six fingers, maybe it would go to ... "question"?

Also on the topic of reading the bible, in blue are some reading notes I pulled out of a dumpster in December.

I was raised an ELCA Lutheran. The only thing Lutherans love to debate more than the technical details of theology is what constitutes good coffee. I see no mention of coffee, or coffee stains, on these documents. Thus, I conclude that these people cannot be Lutherans. Well, not ELCA Lutherans, at least. They might be Missouri Synod or something.

Also, the Lutheran would have written "justification by grace through faith" somewhere--a simple but far-reaching concept that would expedite the transition of the get-together from Bible study to coffee drinking.

So, dear reader, I close this comment with the announcement that I must now refill my coffee cup for the third time this morning and return to Dutch insurance contracts.

And bars. There would probably be some bars to go with the coffee.

  3. and 'bars' would have to be said with that endearing short hard a of the upper midwest ...

    egg coffee!

And, um, thanks to my dad's (ELCA) confirmation quizzes ... "for it is by grace you have been saved through faith and this is not your own doing, it is a gift of god so that no one may boast" Ephesians 5: 6-7 (hmm ... that chapter and verse might be off)

Lemon bars, cherry bars, date bars, jam bars, almond bars, walnut custard bars... Mmm! :-)
